Innovative Driver seat – Measure Heart Respiration Rates, Auto seat
New Japan Radio Co Ltd (JRC) presented a innovative idea for reducing road accidents, as they developed a prototype of a auto drive seat .The seat is expected to be used for detecting a bad health condition and drowsiness of the driver.
- Auto Seat can measure the heart respiration rate of driver. This innovative driver auto seat has microwave sensor which works at 24GHZ frequency band. It detect the frequency changes in human body by the microwaves emitted by the sensor and deals with semiconductor chips, other sensor modules which based on the Doppler effect.
- The detector attached to the seat consists of small sensors measuring approximately 25 x 25mm each.Measured data is processed and sorted into heart and respiration rates per minute.
- For commercialization, it is necessary to improve the measurement performance of the sensor. When there are multiple people around the sensor, frequency changes are often caused, making it difficult to accurately collect data. It is not possible to check the states of all the passengers with one sensor.
- Currently, the expected price of the sensor is about several thousand yen. It will be sold together with special software. The seat was exhibited at Automotive World 2017, Tokyo Big Sight.
