The Piaggio Fast Forward (P. F. F) is a division of Italian vehicle manufacturer Piaggio, is developed a autonomous stuff-moving robot. This is roundish robot called Gita Robot, which is pronounced as “gee-tah”. It will follow you around remotely and can  carry 19 kilograms of tools, groceries, or anything you want.

Gita Robot is performing visual SLAM, which is simultaneous localization and mapping system. It is the primary navigation system consisting a pair of stereoscopic cameras mounted on the robot. It compares its SLAM picture with the SLAM that the user is doing. The user SLAM is performed by stereoscopic cameras on the belt wear by him. The robot and the user’s belt communicate over a dedicated Wi-Fi network. This approach allows robot to track you even if you turn a corner and it loses its line of sight.

Gita Robot is capable of moving from pedestrians speed to 35 kilometers per hour. The Gita maintains a good distance while you are walking or running, but will sidle up close once it is determined you have stopped moving around.

Gita robot has obstacle detection and avoidance capabilities which is provided by vision and ultrasonic sensors and if it gets stuck with any obstacle, it is smart enough to send you a signal for help to its user.
